Lining up for Wednesday's mile maiden at Navan with a Group 1 second already to his name, Jesus Green
(Ghaiyyath) went through the motions to enjoy a confidence boost ahead of further big targets.
Entered in the upcoming Futurity Trophy, Chris So Chun Hung's 100,000gns Tattersalls October Book 2 purchase who had chased home Darkness Falls in Leopardstown's Golden Fleece last month was content to stalk the steady early tempo under Joey Sheridan.
Launched passing two out, the 4-11 favourite soon had the measure of his rivals and went to the line in the expected strong manner to score by three lengths from Ballydoyle's eye-catching newcomer Choctaw Nation (Sea The Stars).
“He obviously handled good ground the last day, but handled soft ground here because it is plenty soft on the round track,” Sheridan said of the Joseph O'Brien-trained relative of this year's Richmond Stakes winner and Prix Jean-Luc Lagardere third Man's Best Friend. “He gave me a brilliant feel and won as he liked.”
“Joseph and Dylan loved him before Leopardstown, so that was not a surprise to us–he has a lovely mind and is obviously very exciting,” he added. “He's the type that you could put anywhere in a race and he will get further too.”
The dam, whose yearling son of Starspangledbanner was a 230,000gns purchase by Amo Racing at the previous day's session of Tattersalls October Book 1, hails from the family of the Bengough Stakes winner Lightning Moon (Shamardal) and the Listed-winning Song Of My Heart (Footstepsinthesand).
One of Song Of My Heart's three Stakes performers was the Musidora third Pandora (Galileo), producer of the aforementioned Ballydoyle bigwig Man's Best Friend. Marbella's 2026 foal is a full-sister to the winner.
